Program Information
The half-day program offered by the Northern Institute of Dance is designed for students who aspire to become professional dancers and wish to gain first-hand experience in ballet, modern, contemporary and jazz training. To be eligible for the program, dancers in high school must have at least one free block each semester to fit their schedule with the class schedule of Northern Institute of Dance.

Monday - Friday
2:00 pm - 3:30 pm - Ballet
3:30 pm - 4:00 pm - Pointe/Variation
4:00 pm - 5:30 pm Contemporary/jazz technique

Below is the highlights of our half-day season.
August 6 - season starts
October - Guest choreographer from Ballet Edmonton Diego Ramalho (choreography for Contemporary solos and Contemporary group)
December - Year end performance
January - Trip to Brazil, performance with the junior company Promodanca.
February - Quesnel Dance Festival
March - Prince George Dance Festival

Dancers in our Half-day program will have one contemporary solo and group choreography set by Diego Ramalho of Ballet Edmonton.
International Competitions
Dancers who are selected to compete internationally will have their audition videos and applications prepared by the Artistic Director and Ballet Master. If selected, the Artistic Director will accompany the dancer.
Brazil Performance
Dancers enrolled in our half-day dance program have been offered a unique opportunity to participate in two performances to be held in Brazil in January 2025. The Northern Institute of Dance has partnered with Promodanca to collaborate with renowned choreographers from around the world to produce two main performances, including a ballet and contemporary production, for the Brazilian community. As part of this program, selected dancers from the half-day program will travel to Brazil for a month-long exchange program and work alongside Brazilian dancers to prepare and perform these two productions.
