Northern Institute of Dance Presents: Masterclass Series with Diego Ramalho of Ballet Edmonton

Join us for an exclusive two-day workshop led by the esteemed Diego Ramalho, a principal artist and emerging choreographer with Ballet Edmonton. This unique opportunity is designed for dancers aged 12 and above to immerse themselves in contemporary ballet techniques and choreography.

Workshop Details:

  • Dates: June 14th and 15th, 2025
  • Location: Prince George Playhouse, 2626 Recplace Drive, Prince George, BC

Daily Schedule:

12:00 PM – 1:15 PM: Contemporary Ballet Warm-up

Begin each day with a comprehensive warm-up focusing on contemporary ballet techniques to prepare the body for advanced movement.

1:20 PM – 2:20 PM: Contemporary Pas de Deux

Explore the intricacies of contemporary partnering work, enhancing communication and synergy between dancers.

2:25 PM – 3:30 PM: Contemporary Choreography

Engage in the creative process by learning and interpreting original choreography crafted by Diego Ramalho.

About Diego Ramalho

Born in Mococa-SP, Brazil, Diego Ramalho began his dance journey with breakdance and Brazilian capoeira. In his teens, he transitioned to formal ballet training at Kleine Szene Studio de Dança in Santo André-SP, Brazil. In 2013, Diego joined Coastal City Ballet Company in Vancouver, BC, where he performed leading roles in full-length ballets such as Swan Lake, Giselle, Cinderella, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. He has also collaborated with contemporary choreographers like Wen Wei Wang, Joshua Beamish, and Erica Trivett. Since joining Ballet Edmonton in 2018, Diego has been exploring his choreographic voice under the mentorship of Wen Wei Wang. His recent work, "Valei-me," has been presented to audiences across Canada, including at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, as part of the company's 2023 e-motion tour.
